Design needs Arrogance

A designer offers judgment as superior; as Henry Ford said, “If I had asked my customers what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse.”

Henry Ford was arrogant. Praise the ford!

“Arrogance” as a definition is widely mistaken in my opinion, there is no need to give it that negative sound when you speak about it. If you act arrogant, just make sure you can deliver. 37signal’s has a strong opinion about certain things, call it arrogant or strong opinionated, it makes no difference to me.

ar•ro•gant [ˈarəgənt]: revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own abilities.

o•pin•ion•at•ed [əˈpinyəˌnātid]: conceitedly assertive and dogmatic in one’s opinions : an arrogant and opinionated man.

The internet makes it worthless?

This site is brand new, grab the feed and see how it develops.

I just read an article on boing boing about how the internet and “everything being digital these days” makes things worthless, because copies of the original are everywhere (feat. the book “Better than free”).

When copies are super abundant, they become worthless.

Nope, it only seems so.

Because worthless would equal zero. The internet is not making anything worthless (that is practically impossible), it just scrambled up the known rules on how we make money, how our marketing works, who we bill and to whom we sell it.
